DIXIE CAR CLUB NEWSLETTER
NOVEMBER – 2017
NEXT MEETING: Thursday, December 7 (Christmas Party)
TIME: 6:30 p.m.
PLACE: Shane & Elisabeth Shelton’s home
4169 Peeler Bend Rd., Benton 72019
Meeting Highlights:
President Shane Shelton opened the meeting welcoming 19 members and 1 guest. Our guest, Ron Sasfai (and new member) owns a 1972 MG Midget. Ron spoke to the club about his car. He needs to either sell it or find an available space so that he can work on it. If you are interested in purchasing the MG Midget or know of a place for him to keep it, please let Shane know. Shane has the notebook with pictures and documentation on this vehicle. The price for the vehicle is $2,800.
Shane thanked everyone who participated in any way with the Car Show. After a breakdown of the money made from each part of the show, it was suggested by Cheryl Overton to eliminate the Silent Auction unless all items are donated. It was also mentioned about possibly asking O’Reilly Auto Parts or other parts stores to sponsor the trophies for next year. Shane will check with the Manager of O’Reilly’s and other stores in January. We also need to request the Sponsorship from Everett in January rather than closer to the show date.
Bill Newsam addressed the group about purchasing Tablets for the Kiwanis Toy Distribution. Amazon will give us a 5% discount for a bulk purchase of 50 Tablets. Bill made a motion to purchase the 50 Tablets. The motion was seconded and carried.
The Christmas Party this year will be held at the home of Shane and Elisabeth Shelton on Thursday, December 7, at 6:30 p.m. The party will be catered by Riverside Grocery. It will be cooked onsite. The menu consists of catfish, chicken, fries, hush puppies and slaw. We will have tea and lemonade to drink. The cost per plate is $12 which will be paid for by the Club. We need Club members to bring desserts. Ron Sasfai, our new member, will be providing tables and chairs loaned by his church. Bring a dirty Santa gift if you want to play.
The address for the Shelton’s is 4169 Peeler Bend Rd., Benton 72019. If coming from Little Rock or Benton, take I-30 West to Exit 116. Stay in the Left lane. You will come to a stop sign. Turn Left (at this point the Service Road becomes a 2-Way street). Follow the service road past the Exxon Station. You will turn Right at 229 (Bruno’s Little Italy is at the corner). You will then go over a river bridge and around a sharp curve. The first street on the Right is Peeler Bend. Turn Right onto Peeler Bend (stay on the pavement all the way to the house). When you are getting close, you will pass New Prospect Church on the Left and then you will see a sign on the Right “River Ranch”. Keep going. You are almost there. Our house is on the Left. It has a long front porch deck sitting 15-20 feet off the ground. There will be 2 rows of icicle lights across the front porch. (Our house is 2.8 miles down the road once you turn onto Peeler Bend). If you go the River, turn around. We will be the 4th house on the Right. Please park in the yard on either side of the driveway. If you are coming from Malvern or Haskell take I-30 E to Exit 116. Turn Left onto the South Street bridge. Follow it around to the left (sharp curve) and stay on the Service Road. Once you see the Exxon Station, follow the remainder of the directions above.
