April 2023 – Newsletter

Next meeting May 4th at The Wood Grill in Benton

6:00 to eat with a meeting at 7:00.

President Shane Shelton welcomed around 24 members and one guest at the April meeting.

Please welcome our newest member Roger Weng of Bauxite. Roger has several cars including a Corvair, Camaro, and a really nice 60 something model work truck.

I didn’t have enough time to get a new letter out before the antique tractor show in Sheridan that was held Saturday April 8th.  It was well attended with a larger number of tractors on display and about 24 antique cars from 3 different clubs. About 9 of those being from the Dixie club.

There are several club related events taking place now that it has warmed up.  Tuesday “Meet and Greet” at the Big Lots parking lot on Military Road will be April 11 starting at 5:00 and wrapping up around 7:00. This cruise is held the second Tuesday of each month until late fall.   “Third Thursday” the event held in downtown Benton will have its’ first event of the year April 20th. We usually park at the corner of South Street and Main Street. They ask to arrive around 5:30 if possible. These events run from 5:30 to 8:00 April to September on the third Thursday of the month. The local shops are open along with food trucks and various activities for the family.  The cruise ins at David’s Burgers Mabelvale location have resumed. This month’s cruise will be April 15th.  They are held on the third Saturday of each month from 5:00 to 8:00.

At the beginning of the year the club made plans to buy more magnetic signs to be placed on our cars at events to advertise the club. Elisabeth will be getting price estimates and present the information at the next meeting.

We are starting the process of purchasing club T-shirts. A list has been started to see who is interested and get pricing of the shirts. All shirts are pre-pay . They are the same grey shirts with the logo design as in the past. Anyone who can’t make the meetings but wants a shirt can make a request on the club’s Facebook page.

Lisa Ramsey is stepping down after many years as the club secretary due to changes in life circumstances. A special “Thank You !”goes out to Lisa for the work she has done. Now another big Thank You goes out to Jennifer Litchfield for stepping up to become the new secretary as well as managing the club Facebook page.

Many of you may know the club has had another member pass away recently. Fran Bergaginini  passed away on Saturday April 8th. Betty and the family are still making arrangements and any new information will be sent to the club ASAP.

Elisabeth and I would like for members to keep our family members on both sides on your prayer list. We have family members who have long drawn-out health issues. It never hurts to pray for each other under any circumstances.

Bill Gray and Porfirio Guiterrez are interested forming a committee to follow up on members when they are absent. Bill Grey made a motion and it passed. Any club member is welcome to be on the committee. The meeting time may be about 5 minutes long after the main meeting.

Food Bank collected $14.00

The meeting adjourned 7:40 P.M.
