Next meeting June 1st

Wood Grill in Benton on Military Road

6:00 to eat and meeting at 7:00

The Dixie Car Club met on May 4th and President Shane Shelton welcomed 29 members. Great turn out and thanks to everyone for attending!

In old business, Elisabeth Shelton presented price quotes concerning having more magnetic signs made by Show Time Graphics. The prices for 12 X18 inch sign are $70.00 for a pair and $80.00 per pair for the 12 X 24 size signs. Mfter a fairly in-depth discussion, a motion was made to buy two pairs of signs of both sizes for a total $300.00.  That is a total of 8 new signs. They already have our logo on file, therefore, there was no set up fee. The motion was voted on and passed by unanimous decision.

Lisa Ramsey collected money from those who wanted to buy new club T-shirts. She plans to have the shirts at the next meeting for pick up. Again, the next meeting is June 1st. I want to give Lisa a special thanks for taking care of this huge task. It isn’t as easy as it sounds.

The Tuesday night “Meet and Greet” was well attended by 16 to 17 cars. The weather was perfect just before the rain moved in the next day.  The next “Meet and Greet” will be June 13th 6:00 to 8:00 in the Big Lots parking lot on Military Road in Benton. Let’s have another big turnout!  Sorry I wasn’t able to get word out about the past event before it actually happened.

Jennifer Litchfield made some forms to help keep up with club activities and of members both old and new.  Jennifer also is doing an extremely good job of keeping the Face Book page up to date as well as being the new club secretary. Big Thank You to her.

Bill Gray is also working to get a list of active members contact information.  If a member feels they haven’t given their most recent information to him, send it to me or come see either of us at our cruise in outings.

Since things were a little tight with the large turn out last month Elisabeth Shelton checked into getting the larger meeting room. The Wood Grill management said we would have to have at least 44 or more in constant attendance in order to get the bigger room. We are welcome to meet in the bigger room, but it would still be open to the general public.

The next club event is “Third Thursday” in downtown Benton on May18th barring rain again. We usually park at the corner of Main Street and South Street. Please try to arrive around 5:30. I know that is not always possible.

David’s Burgers cruise in is always on the third Saturday at the Mabelvale location starting at 5:00 and going to about 8:00.

There is a car show being held by the VFW in Alexander Park at the same time as the David’s Burgers event. The show starts at 4:00 and should end around 8:00. Entry fee is $20.00 for non-military participants and $15.00 for current military personnel or veterans.

Meeting adjourned 7:45.
