Meeting Highlights
David Huett opened the meeting welcoming 25 members.
There was no old business to discuss other than the June Club outing on June 18. The outing was hosted by Ron and Brenda Wood. We traveled to Cotham’s in Scott. The outing was attended by 12 members. It was too hot for the antiques.
The July outing will be hosted by the Berganini’s. We will meet at Chicken Express at 2:30 on Saturday, July 30. From there we will caravan to the Congo Masonic Lodge for catfish. We will have reserved parking and seating.
Vice President, Cheryl Overton, who is in charge of the Car Show announced there will be no Car Show Committee meetings. Everything has run smoothly with the past couple of shows. Pretty much everything will be the same this year. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Velta Shipps and Wanda Price have graciously volunteered to plan the Christmas Party for this year. The group voted to spend $100 plus a $50 cleaning deposit to rent the Gene Moss building at Tyndall Park. The tentative plan is to try to reserve the building for December 1. If this is not possible, they will reserve the next open date. More information will be provided at the next meeting.
Bill Newsam shared information that the City of Benton has extended an invitation for us to participate in Old Fashion Day on October 8. More details to come at our next meeting.
Bill also reported that we have been offered a complimentary membership in the Benton Chamber of Commerce. After discussion, questions were raised regarding advantages and disadvantages of this membership. Bill will obtain more information and report back at the August meeting.
Ricky Fisher announced that Mashburn’s Mustang Museum has added more cars and air conditioning to boot.
David Huett has magnetic signs that we voted to purchase. The cost was $65 for 2 signs. The signs will be used during club events such as parades, outings, etc.
