The Dixie Car Club met at Western Sizzlin in Benton on Thursday September 6th. President Shane Shelton welcomed 24 members and 1 guest.
Then next meeting will be October 4th which is the Thursday before our car show at the Saline County Fair Grounds. Please attend this meeting if possible as we tie up any loose ends for the show.
Terry Sayers hosted the August outing was out of town at the time of the meeting. President Shane Shelton reported in Terry’s absence . The trip to J.J.’s Truck Stop/Restaurant was attended and 15 members and guest. The food there had greatly improved from time of a visit a few years ago and a good time was had by all.
Car show set up will begin at 4:00 on Friday October 5th. Everyone will meet at bill Newsam’s house to help load up and prep the show area. We still need a lot help on this one.
The club voted to designate an area for members to display their cars that would not be judged. Lisa Ramsey is checking into the purchase of small signs to distinguish that area. Our purpose is to raise money for Saline County charities. If you only display your car, please donate to the cause. Members are discouraged from entering their car in the show since participants out side the club perceive club members winning trophies as being bias.
Volunteers to work in the concession stand are still needed. Please contact Lisa Ramsey at 501-840-3706 to schedule a shift.
Vendors are welcome to set up booths at the show. The cost is $50.00 For more information contact Lisa Ramsey or Cheryl Overton.
Door prizes are still a great need. Please bring them to the next meeting on October 4th.
Geyer springs 1st Baptist church is hosting “Old Guy,Old Cars and Catfish” on Monday October 8th at 6:00 P.M. It is just a cruise in followed by catfish dinner and a short message. There is no charge for the meal for non church members and $100.00 prize for the best car. Jack Ramsey keeps racking up on that one!
