June 2023 – Newsletter

Next meeting July 6th at The Wood Grill in Benton

6:00 to eat with a meeting at 7:00

President Shane Shelton welcomed about 24 members and 3 guest.

We would like to welcome new members Kelly Hori  who has many Volkswagen and Richard and Joyce Undiener who don’t have cars but do have many restored antique tractors and an interest in old cars. It was great to see long time member Mary Beth Wilson return to the club after an extended absence.

I saw Porfirio Gutierrez at the “Meet and Greet” at Big Lots on Tuesday. He is doing much better after being injured during a fall at his home.  Keep him and Tanny on the prayer list as he continues to recover.

Elisabeth and I spoke with the Wood Grill manager about getting back to the large room.  The only way we can do this is by filling our current meeting room to capacity on a consistent bases. We can meet in the larger room now, however, it will stil be open to the public.

Elisabeth ordered the new set of sign magnets from Graphic Plus.  They should be ready for pick up a few days.  Speaking of signs, Bill Gray had presentation of what could be purchased online as a less expensive alternative. He had examples of car show banners, banners for Dixie events, Dixie Car Club window flags, and magnetic signs.  The club passed a motion to reimburse Bill for his expenses.

Anyone needing to pick up their T-Shirts can see Shane Shelton at the upcoming Third Thursday or David’s Burgers events. Lisa Ramsey left the shirts with him since they were headed out of town.

I would like to express my gratitude to Jennifer Lytchfield and Bill Gray for drawing up our car show flyers. Also the club voted for a sponsorship cut off date of September 1st to be listed on the flyer. We need as many sponsorship and donations as possible for the car show in October. Tasha Thibeau have volunteered to make basket arrangements again for the silent auction. She need items to fill the baskets so please look for donations if possible. Bob Perlinger is going to contact Hiland Dairy and Shane Shelton is going to contact Ashley’s Furniture  and double check with O’Rielly’s  for providing trophies.
The Benton Event Center doesn’t  want reservation money to be paid until August.  This is the location of the Christmas Party. The club also decided to resume cruises after the meeting when weather allows them. They will follow the route used when Bill Newsam would be the leader.  If one is unfamiliar the route, come to the next meeting and participate to get the low down.
There are many events the club is involved with now. To keep up to date check out the club page on Face Book. Thanks Jennifer for keeping this up to date as well being the new secretary.
Meeting adjourned at 7:45 and $18.00 collected for the Food Bank.
