SUMMARY:Dad's Old Car Show
DESCRIPTION:Dad’s Old Car show is November the 4th at Fort Roots VA Hospital starting at 1:00. The Arkansas Pontiac Association is now the host club. In the past the hospital personnel have request participants to bring caps and magazines for the patients. Since most of the patients don’t get to go out doors very much\, the caps are needed to prevent sun and wind burns.  There is no entry fee.  Please come out and support the men and women who have served and protected the citizens of our country!

DESCRIPTION:Hi All: \nThe cruise in at Market Street Food Court is set for May 19th from 6:00 to 8:00.  Parking will be in the lot behind Thomas Real Estate offices. Food trucks will be available along with indoor dining area.  Cars should enter the parking lot on Cross Street. The Conway Street entry is not very car friendly.   I will need about 5 club members to assist in parking.  We will also need folks to help pick up trash off the parking lot after the event.  I know there are a lot f graduations going on this time of year but this is the only date we could get. Please spread the word as the Food Court people and myself plan to make flyers. I will keep everyone in the loop  if something changes.  In case you don’t know the Food Court is on the North East corner from the court House.  No entry fees or trophies at this time. \nThanks \nShane

DESCRIPTION:The Christmas Party this year will be held at the home of Shane and Elisabeth Shelton on Thursday\, December 7\, at 6:30 p.m.   The party will be catered by Riverside Grocery.   It will be cooked onsite.  The menu  consists of catfish\, chicken\, fries\, hush puppies and slaw.  We will have tea and lemonade to drink.   The cost per plate is $12 which will be paid for by the Club.  We need Club members to bring desserts.  Ron Sasfai\, our new member\, will be providing tables and chairs loaned by his church.  Bring a dirty Santa gift if you want to play. \nThe address for the Shelton’s is 4169 Peeler Bend Rd.\, Benton 72019.   If coming from Little Rock or Benton\, take I-30 West to Exit 116.  Stay in the Left lane.  You will come to a stop sign.  Turn Left (at this point the Service Road becomes a 2-Way street).  Follow the service road past the Exxon Station.   You will turn Right at 229  (Bruno’s Little Italy is at the corner).   You will then go over a river bridge and around a sharp curve.  The first street on the Right is Peeler Bend.  Turn Right onto Peeler Bend (stay on the pavement all the way to the house).   When you are getting close\, you will pass New Prospect Church on the Left and then you will see a sign on the Right “River Ranch”.  Keep going.  You are almost there.   Our house is on the Left.  It has a long front porch deck sitting 15-20 feet off the ground.  There will be 2 rows of icicle lights across the front porch.   (Our house is 2.8 miles down the road once you turn onto Peeler Bend).   If you go the River\, turn around.  We will be the 4th house on the Right.  Please park in the yard on either side of the driveway.   If you are coming from Malvern  or Haskell take I-30 E to Exit 116.  Turn Left onto the South Street bridge.  Follow it around to the left  (sharp curve) and stay on the Service Road.   Once you see the Exxon Station\, follow the remainder of the directions above.

DESCRIPTION:On Monday October 2nd we are having the third annual Old Cars\, Old Guys and Catfish gathering at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church 12400 Interstate 30. \nThere is NO entry fee or registration.  We will gather as close to 5:00 as possible and the show/shine will start at 5:30.  We will eat catfish at about 6:00.  There is no charge for the dinner for non Geyer Springs members.  Dinner will be served followed by a short devotion.  Don’t worry\, we are not going cast judgement on anyone or pressure anyone to come to church.  We will extend an invitation to visit the Geyer Springs any time to see what is going on there.  Last year some ladies stayed for the event \, therefore\, I can’t see why that would be a problem this year.

DESCRIPTION:Velta Ships has secured the Gene Moss bldg. for the club Christmas party to be held on December 1.  Festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m.  She also presented the idea of hiring a band for the party.  They have given a discounted rate of $200 for one hour of music.   The schedule will be:  6:00-7:00 dinner\, 7:00-8:00 the band will play.  The menu will be Turkey and Ham.  Velta is taking volunteers for sides and desserts.  Bill McMahan made a motion to hire the Penn Family Band for the Christmas Party at the $200 rate.  Motion was seconded and the vote carried.  Chris Beason made a motion that we do not play Dirty Santa this year.  Cheryl Overton seconded the motion.  After discussion\, we had 16 votes for no Dirty Santa to 6 votes to play.  Vote carried to not  have Dirty Santa this year.

DESCRIPTION:This month’s outing is hosted by Bill and Fairy McMahan.  On Saturday\, October 22\, we will meet at the Human Resource Complex on Hwy 35\, Benton\, at 10:30 a.m.  We will travel to Sheridan.  On the way\, we will stop and visit the World War II Memorial of the aircraft that went down in the woods off Hwy 35 killing seven servicemen.  There is a replica of the plane at the memorial.  This is a new memorial and is very interesting.  Next\, we will travel on to Sheridan and visit the Grant County Museum; one of a kind in Arkansas.  If you have not visited this museum\, you will like the experience very much.  We will have lunch at about 1:00 p.m.  We will have lunch at Uncle Henry’s.  He has good BBQ\, hamburgers\, plate lunches\, etc.
