DESCRIPTION:On Monday October 2nd we are having the third annual Old Cars\, Old Guys and Catfish gathering at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church 12400 Interstate 30. \nThere is NO entry fee or registration.  We will gather as close to 5:00 as possible and the show/shine will start at 5:30.  We will eat catfish at about 6:00.  There is no charge for the dinner for non Geyer Springs members.  Dinner will be served followed by a short devotion.  Don’t worry\, we are not going cast judgement on anyone or pressure anyone to come to church.  We will extend an invitation to visit the Geyer Springs any time to see what is going on there.  Last year some ladies stayed for the event \, therefore\, I can’t see why that would be a problem this year.

DESCRIPTION:Velta Ships has secured the Gene Moss bldg. for the club Christmas party to be held on December 1.  Festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m.  She also presented the idea of hiring a band for the party.  They have given a discounted rate of $200 for one hour of music.   The schedule will be:  6:00-7:00 dinner\, 7:00-8:00 the band will play.  The menu will be Turkey and Ham.  Velta is taking volunteers for sides and desserts.  Bill McMahan made a motion to hire the Penn Family Band for the Christmas Party at the $200 rate.  Motion was seconded and the vote carried.  Chris Beason made a motion that we do not play Dirty Santa this year.  Cheryl Overton seconded the motion.  After discussion\, we had 16 votes for no Dirty Santa to 6 votes to play.  Vote carried to not  have Dirty Santa this year.

DESCRIPTION:This month’s outing is hosted by Bill and Fairy McMahan.  On Saturday\, October 22\, we will meet at the Human Resource Complex on Hwy 35\, Benton\, at 10:30 a.m.  We will travel to Sheridan.  On the way\, we will stop and visit the World War II Memorial of the aircraft that went down in the woods off Hwy 35 killing seven servicemen.  There is a replica of the plane at the memorial.  This is a new memorial and is very interesting.  Next\, we will travel on to Sheridan and visit the Grant County Museum; one of a kind in Arkansas.  If you have not visited this museum\, you will like the experience very much.  We will have lunch at about 1:00 p.m.  We will have lunch at Uncle Henry’s.  He has good BBQ\, hamburgers\, plate lunches\, etc.

DESCRIPTION:Salem Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its annual Independence Day Celebration at the Salem Ball fields on Angela Road off Congo Road. Their will be a car & Truck show from 4 to 8 PM. Their will be no judging\, however event goers can pay $1 per vote and the winner will receive half the money raised\, along with a trophy. Their will be food vendors & a fireworks display @ 9 PM.
