The Final Ride

When the engine of your days grew still,
And the road ahead slipped out of sight,
You didn’t stop — you simply shifted gears
And drove beyond the night.

The miles you logged were more than roads,
More than chrome and turning wheels;
They were laughter at the meets,
The bonds no time can steal.

We saw your taillights fade at dusk,
A glow against the sky,
But somewhere past the final bend
A brighter highway lies.

No traffic there, no wear or rust,
No worries weighing down;
Just endless curves of peace and light
Where all lost roads are found.

So when we gather, hood to hood,
And hear a distant roar,
We’ll know you’re cruising somewhere near —
Just a little ahead once more.

Until the day our paths align
On that great open drive,
We’ll keep your memory in our hearts
And your spirit in every ride.
