David Huett had an update on the T-Shirts/logos. Show Time Graphics will be able to produce the T-Shirts for us. We need to place orders as soon as possible. The T-Shirts will be $13.74 without a front pocket. The cost with a pocket is $16.24. The T-Shirts will be athletic gray with a left chest logo and a large logo on the back of the shirt. The club voted to cut one check for the price of the shirts. For those wanting to order shirts, checks can be mailed to Cheryl Overton at 1214 Brownwood, Malvern, AR 72104. Please make checks payable to the Dixie Car Club. Shirts can be picked up once they are paid for. For those who have not yet ordered their shirt, contact David Huett. He will need the size, and whether or not you wish to have a pocket on your shirt.
Bill Newsam reported on behalf of Jim and Velta Shipps that the April outing was attended by 8 people and 3 old cars. They went to The Hook restaurant in Jacksonville.
The May outing will be hosted by Ron and Brenda Wood on Saturday, May 26. We will meet at the Health Department on Edison Ave. at 1 p.m. and leave at 1:15 to caravan to Whippet.
Shane Shelton reminded everyone that the cruise-in at Main Street Station in Benton will be from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 19. The address is 303 Main St. in Benton. Those attending the cruise-in will park in the lot behind Thomas Real Estate. We will use Cross Street entry since the Conway entry has a very steep incline. There will be various food trucks available for food and drink. There are no trophies and no registration fees. This is a “come and go as you please” event.
Earl Cloud made a motion that, since the club voted to replace the confederate flag logo with an updated logo, all old material baring the old logo should be discontinued as soon as possible. This includes but is not limited to T-Shirts, license plates, jackets, etc… Motion was seconded by Ricky Fisher and the vote carried 12-1. Once we have completed our order and distribution of T-Shirts, we look in to the cost for make new items with the new logo on them.
The club voted to keep the concession stand at the October show the same as last year. The sign up sheet for volunteers and donations will be available soon.
Ricky Fisher reported that the annual fish fry at Mashburn’s Mustang Museum is tentatively set for August 4. He will report back to us once he has a solid date.
The club has a few members who are dealing with serious health issues. Please remember Lonnie Hunter who is recovering from shoulder surgery. Also remember Robert Vest. He is recovering from a recent heart attack and Bill McMahan. Please keep these and all members in your prayers.
