Dixie Car Club

Benton, Arkansas car club

October 2017 – Newsletter

The Dixie Car Club held it second meeting in September on the 28th.  This was due to the club car show being held on the 30th.

President Shane Shelton welcomed 31 members.  The next meeting will be on November 7th at Western Sizzlin’ in Benton at 7:00.

Kenneth Hunter reported that the outing to Little Fir Landing was attended by 11 people and 3 old cars were driven.

Fairy Mc Mahan contacted me to inform everyone that the October outing has been cancelled.  This is due to some health issues that arose recently and require some medical intervention.  Please keep Bill and Fairy on your prayer list.

Since the main focus of the second meeting was on the car show, the club logo change was revisited.  A design was presented by Lisa Ramsey from Victory Wear T-Shirts.  The design was met with mixed reviews.  The club did vote 16 to 7 in favor of acceptance of the new design.  There is a strong chance this topic will be revisited.  There maybe more design options forth coming.

The final count for cars registered for the car show was 59.  Thanks to all those who helped out making the show happen.  That includes those who cooked breakfast and burgers for lunch to those who worked the concessions table, registration table, 50/50 tickets ,  PA system set up and operations and parking help.  Also thanks to all who stayed after the show to help clean up.  If I forgot someone it wasn’t intentional.  Again thanks to all.

Bill Newsam reported that Old Fashion Day in Benton will be held on October 14th.  If interested in participating please contact Bill and he can get you the information about where to park and set up.

I would like to express a thanks of gratitude to those who brought their cars to the Old Guys, Old Cars and Catfish Fellowship held on October 2ed at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church.  We had 39 cars show up even though it began to rain we all had a great time together.  Jack Ramsey won the prize for the second year in a row for the best appearing car. Jack needs some competition so plan to come out next year.

Roller Funeral Home is having an open house on October 26th at Bishop Park in Bryant.   The address is 6401 Boone Road. They plan to have a show and shine event from 5:30 to 7:00.  There will be free hot dogs and burgers, games and possible live music.

Food bank collected $27.00

Meeting adjourned at 7:56
