July 2021 – Newsletter

Next meeting is August 5th at the Wood Grill in Benton on Military Road Dinner at 6:00 and meeting at 7:00.
The Dixie Car Club met 7/1/2021 at the Wood Grill in Benton.  President Shane Shelton welcomed 17 members and one guest to the meeting.
Lee Canady who is the Marketing Coordinator and in charge of Special Events came by provided information about the Independence Day Bash and fireworks show held on 7/2/2021 at River Side Park.  She also made parking provisions for club members attending the show. In addition, Lee gave an update about “Third Thursday” that is scheduled for 7/15/2021.  This month’s theme is “Make a Splash Downtown”.  There will be the usual food trucks, shops and band along with water related games and events to keep cool. So, feel free to bring you kids or grandkids.  If attending, please arrive between 5:30 and 6:00.  Our display location will be based upon how many vendors attend and events that are happening.  Ask a worker for information about parking if can’t find the area.  
The June outing was held on the 26th by the Shelton’s.  We caravanned from Chicken Express to Rivera Maya on I-30 across from the Bass Pro Shop.  There were 12 members in attendance of the outing and 6 old cars were driven. The food was great as usual!
The July outing will be hosted by the Ramsey’s.  We will meet at Verona Italian Restaurant in Benton at 4:00 for dinner on July 10th.  The location is on the service road and Main Street in Benton.  (It was formally Bo’s Barbeque). After dinner we will cruise to downtown Benton to “Just Ice Cream” for dessert.
Perforio announced that he would like to host the September outing to the go cart track in Hot Springs.  After riding carts, we will go and eat.  This event was cancelled due to Covid last year.  He will give more details when he returns from his trip to Norway.  Perforio also showed everyone a very nice plaque he won at the Velonia car show.
Bill Newsam announced that the Mashburn Mustang Museum open house is scheduled for August 7th. Riverside Catering will be serving catfish at noon. All proceeds raised will go to the upkeep of the museum and its contents.
Bill also announced that a short time member Shenna Blundel passed away during the Covid shut down. He is not sure what caused here passing.
Becky Fischer had surgery to repair an injury to her ankle. At last report she was doing well after surgery.
Shane Shelton has a friend who is selling a 1978 silver Corvette for the asking price of $5000.00.  It is NOT a 25th Anniversary or Indy Pace Car replica, just a regular Corvette.  It will need some bodywork and interior work. To get in contact with the seller, contact Shane at 501-650-6288. Leave a message if he doesn’t answer so he will not think he is being contacted about his car warranty expiring.
Food Bank raised $17.00
