Meeting Highlights
The car club met Thursday, August 4, at Wood Grill Buffet. President Shane Shelton welcomed 46 members and guests.
The Club would like to welcome new members: Amy and Gary Reed, Bob McHarty, and Ricky Cranford.
Member Tom Evans of the Tull Community Fire Department has asked us to help put on a car show sometime in the Spring. The proceeds will go to purchase a new message board for the Tull Community. They also plan to have food trucks, BBQ, and games for kids. Tom will get back with the club with more details.
The Saline County Fair Parade will be held September 5. The theme this year is Neon Circus Lights. We will line up at 5:30 p.m. on Maple Street just across from CW Lewis Stadium.
Volunteers are needed to assist TJ and Tasha for movie night at Tinsel Town held for Autistic Children. This will be on September 30. For more information, contact Tasha or TJ.
Tasha Thibeau is making the Auction Baskets to be auctioned at the Car Show. She is need of items to be donated for the basket (car care items, etc). She is also putting together a basket more directed for ladies. To get items to Tasha, call 501-860-5575 or bring them to the next meeting. Also, Tasha has Tax Vouchers to give to those who are providing donations or sponsorship.
We are still in need of Sponsors. At this time Bob Perlinger reported that Highland Dairy will provide refreshments. Chick-Fil-A has agreed to provide sandwiches to be sold at concessions. First Security Bank has agreed to provide water, hot dogs and fixins’. Shane is still trying to secure a sponsorship from Ashley’s. Wayne Davis is checking into sponsorship from Everett GMC Buick. The deadline for turning in sponsorships is September 1. Any monetary donations or items for door prizes need to be turned in to Cheryl Overton at the next meeting.
Lisa Ramsey has a sign up sheet for items to bring for concessions for the show. If you have not signed up for something, please do so at the next meeting. Anyone who has already purchased items, please bring them to the next meeting.
Tasha made a motion to have a special Bill Newsam People’s Choice this year. Motion passed unanimously.
Porfirio Gutierrez presented a sample yard sign advertising the show. They can be changed yearly so that these signs can be used for future shows. Porfirio and Bill Gray are searching for best price options.
Porfirio and Tanny have donated $100 for a free drawing for car show participants at the show. TJ Thibeau will provide light transportation and a pop-up tent for those working the show. Porfirio has also suggested that car club members may display their car with the participants as “display only” rather than members’ cars being parked in a separate area.
Aaron and Kassie Penn are hosting an August outing on August 26. We will meet at Big Lots at 2:30 p.m. to cruise over to the Salem Dairy Bar. We should arrive at 3 p.m. You may want to bring a chair.

9/30 – Sheridan Car Show at Landmark Church put on by Mid-South Car Club
