DIXIE CAR CLUB NEWSLETTER
JUNE 2019
NEXT MEETING: THURSDAY, JULY 11, 2019 TIME: 6 P.M. DINNER / 7:00 P.M. MEETING PLACE: WOODFIRE GRILL, BENTON
The Club met at Woodfire Grill on Thursday, June 6. President Shane Shelton welcomed 22 members.
Our May Outing was hosted by Bill Newsam and Shane Shelton on behalf Ron and Brenda Wood. Approximately 10 people traveled to Wright’s Ranch House in Sheridan. The June outing will be hosted by The Perlings. On Saturday, July 29 we will meet at Chicken Express in Benton at 4:00 p.m. From there we will travel to El Chico on Geyer Springs. Ron has 20% off coupons for each individual in attendance.
Bill Newsam and Cheryl Overton presented a plaque in appreciation to O’Reily Auto Parts for their sponsorhip of trophies. This year O’Reily’s will provide 39 trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There will also be 5 specialty trophies.
Ron Wood has been able to secure a $1,000 Car Show sponsorship from Ashley’s Furniture. Also, Bill Newsam recently acquired a $250 sponsorship from Mid State Transmission. We still need more Sponsors and Door Prizes. See Bill Newsam for Tax Certificates to give to the donors.
The club voted to keep the same format for concessions since it worked so well last year. Donations and workers are greatly needed. The sign up sheet is available at each meeting. This was very profitable to the club due to the donations made by members.
Ricky Fisher presented information on the antique car tag charge. Currently the law is still 25 yrs. No one is quite sure when the law will officially change to 45 years. If you need antique tags, get them now!
The Bryant Fall Fest Car Show is September 28. It will be held Bishop Park in Bryant.
Please keep John Bennet in prayer. John’s wife, Lynda, recently passed away. Elisabeth Shelton also requested prayer for her sister and brother-in-law Norma and Gary Powell as they are recovering from injuries from a motor vehicle accident.
Due to the July 4 holiday, the next meeting will be held on the 2nd Thursday which is July 11.
Upcoming Events:
- July 6: Larry’s Pizza cruise in at Land Mark 6 – 8 p.m.
Food Bank: $11
Sincerely,
Shane Shelton, President
My name is Fred Landers from Conway AR(not related to any of Landers car dealerships ).
My reason for contacting you is I am wanting to sell or possibly trade my
1929 Ford Model A Huckster Truck that I use for car shows and occasional parades.
At this year’s June Petit Jean Swap meet I had A couple of Model A specialist from their Model A clubs, one from AR and one from a Mississippi, give me their educated opinion on what my car’s value would be. Both said at different times between
$ 8,500 to $ 10,000.
I am 72 years of age and tired of having to trailer my “A” places along with a health issue that complicates doing this.
If I can trade for another vintage vehicle which I like that I can drive on the highway and enjoy in the same price range I will entertain that idea. I cannot add money to a trade.
I would appreciate at your next monthly club meeting if you would announce my truck for sale or trade.
I will send you pictures of the 1929 Model A Huckster. It runs and drives good. Good paint and wood body. I have a good title for it.
